Mississauga grew in waves, and each wave left a different kind of roof. Applewood, Cooksville and parts of Mineola and Lorne Park have 1950s and 1960s bungalows and side-splits with low-pitched roofs and small attics, with little room for insulation, which makes them prone to ice dams. Meadowvale and Erin Mills were built out mostly in the 1970s and 1980s, and many of those homes are on their second roof with original vents and tired flashing. In newer areas like Churchill Meadows, the first round of builder-grade shingles is starting to wear out. On older bungalows we check the attic before quoting, because adding insulation and baffles often matters as much as the new shingles do.

Most residential re-roofs that replace like with like do not need a building permit. Work that changes the structure, such as new framing or a different roof shape, may. We will confirm with the City of Mississauga before we start.
